During my senior year, I worked with a group of students on a capstone project to design an improved solid residual handling facility for a wastewater treatment plant. The team began by assessing the current solid residuals handling facility on site. After reviewing several alternatives, we designed a pushing berm with enhanced features to meet the client's needs. The pushing berm consists of a two-tiered structure that can be utilized to dry residuals originating from the city’s sewer/stormwater collection system before they are transported and hauled off-site.
