School of Engineering: Degree Programs
The
Because the University believes in a broad education for all students, the engineering program includes studies in history, fine arts, literature, social sciences, theology, and philosophy.
Below are brief descriptions to the five degree programs offered by the School of Engineering:
Computer Science
If you are interested in computers and want to expand the things they make possible, consider majoring in computer science. You will learn to design and implement the sophisticated computer programs that underlie our technological society.
Civil Engineering
Consider civil engineering if you want to design, construct, or manage structures from airports and bridges to transit systems and water supply facilities, or apply engineering solutions to environmental issues like pollution control or waste collection.
Electrical Engineering
You may want to consider electrical engineering if you like computers and/or electronic devices like cell phones, music players and robots. With both an electrical track (circuits, microwaves, power, signal processing) and a computer track (hardware, software, networking) to choose from, all facets of electrical and computer engineering are covered.
Engineering Management
Engineering management combines three years of engineering study with one year of business classes. Engineering management is a bridge between the "nuts and bolts" of engineering and the management side of business, giving you the ability to "speak" in both languages. You could be a project engineer, you might work in technical sales, or you might start your own engineering firm.
Mechanical Engineering
From tiny machine parts to huge factories, or robots to rockets, mechanical engineers make things work (and see what it takes to break them). They are equally comfortable working with their hands or designing sophisticated systems on the computer.
