Shiley School of Engineering: Welcome
Welcome! Our focus is to prepare engineers and computer scientists to solve technical problems that affect society. You are prepared to tackle these complex technical challenges because your program of study includes both the technical fundamentals as well as the breadth of the liberal arts, combined with hands-on applications, oral and written communication practice, and faculty and staff who are dedicated to providing you with the best education possible.
All of this in a new state-of-the-art LEED Platinum engineering building at a University that offers a multitude of ways for you to be involved whether it’s a service program, design competition, study abroad, athletics, the arts, or some activity that you bring to campus. We have programs for budding entrepreneurs, study abroad opportunities that work with your curricula, and many ways for students to apply their knowledge to solve problems for the under-served. Recent undergraduates have won Fulbright and NSF Graduate fellowships and our graduates routinely outperform their peers on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, the first of a two-step process to becoming professionally licensed.
In summary, we are a School that provides the ideal environment for you the student to flourish at whatever your passion is as you prepare to become the technological leader our society needs for the 21st century. Please browse the website, but better yet come in for a visit.
Sincerely,
Sharon A. Jones, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE
Dean
2013 Whitaker International Fellow
2013 Post-Graduate NCAA Fellowship
