The master's in biomedical engineering is a 12-month program, with each new cohort beginning in June and finishing the following May. The program is open to all students with a STEM background (prerequisites may apply; see list below). Current University of Portland students may apply for the program during either their junior or senior year.
To complete the MBME program in 12 months, the prerequisites listed below (or their equivalents) are required. Students are encouraged to complete all prerequisites prior to the summer semester. Students who do not have all of the prerequisites may apply to be conditionally accepted to the program. Most of the prerequisite courses are offered during the summer session at UP.

Deadlines: All required application materials are due January 15 of the junior year. Conditional acceptance decisions will be made by March 15 of the junior year. Students admitted as juniors will be accepted conditionally; final acceptance based on all prerequisites and senior level courses completed successfully. A non-refundable $1,000 deposit due by Aug 1 (counts towards summer tuition).
UP Seniors and Non-UP Applicants:

Deadlines: All required application materials due by January 31 of the year prior to the summer start date (for example, you should apply by January 31, 2017 if you'd like to start the program in June 2017). Admissions decisions will be made by March 1. A non-refundable $1,000 deposit is due by April 15 (deposit will be applied towards summer tuition).

The Biomedical Engineering program does not have specific minimum acceptance standards for GPA and GRE. All application materials are viewed in aggregate. The average GPA for accepted students is 3.42.
