Shiley School of Engineering
Computing
The University campus is equipped with the latest computer
equipment allowing ample access for all students. Shiley Hall has a 40-seat open computer lab and
two 35-seat computer classrooms. The building also has
two conference rooms, one with video-conferencing capability. All
classrooms are now interactive --- classrooms equipped
with audiovisual systems capable of displaying web pages, computer
images, and a number of other
audiovisual media types.
Student study areas
Engineering and computer science students have the two-story Vollum Study Room set aside solely for them to interact and study. Both floors of the Vollum Study Center are equipped with wireless capability. The room is accessed from the new atrium with seating for socializing and studying, and a view of Forest Park, across the Willamette River.
Laboratories
Shiley Hall has 17,000 square feet dedicated to labs to support classroom education as well as individual student work whether it is fabrication or research. Listed below are the various labs in the building.

Shop
Shiley Hall has extensive shop facilities overseen by technicians. Facilities include: a wood shop with drill presses, planer, band saw, table saw, sanders, etc.; a welding shop including metal inert gas, tungsten inert gas, and stick- or oxy-acetylene; and a precision-machining capable metal shop with a milling machine, drill presses, saws, bead blaster, solvent tank and sander.
