Shiley School of Engineering: Students
The Shiley School of Engineering's enrollment is at an all-time high. In fall 2011, 190+ first-year engineering students started their studies and total enrollment for full-time undergraduates hit 623 students. In this entering engineering class, 21 percent of the students are female, and 30 percent are underrepresented minorities, the average GPA is 3.68, and the combined critical reading and math average score is 1253.

Steve Carter '13
NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio was home base for Steve Carter in summer 2012. Carter worked alongside NASA engineers as a research assistant in the drop fuel lab measuring fuel vaporization droplet rates. (More)

Laura Coulter '12
Laura Coulter '12 was able to merge two of her passions at the University of Portland. She graduated with degrees in mechanical engineering and French studies, and as part of her program requirements she spent a semester studying in Nantes, France. (More) |

Juliana Flores '13
Juliana Flores' 2012 summer internship took place in Moffett Field, California. She spent ten weeks at the Ames Research Center working with NASA engineers on rotorcraft aeromechanics research. (More)

Jordan Heintz '13
Jordan Heintz spent ten weeks at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, during summer 2012. His main assignment was helping NASA engineers create and develop a weld fixture heat absorption rating device for friction stir welding. (More)

Rosemary Peters '12
In addition to her studies in the Shiley School of Engineering, Rosemary Peters spent her senior year as editor of University of Portland's student newspaper The Beacon. (More)
