Civil Engineering: Graduates and Employment

Civil engineering graduates find employment in consulting engineering firms, government agencies, construction and the military sector. Graduates have been employed by these firms and organizations: Kittelson & Associates, Murray, Smith and Associates, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, OTAK, Inc. and the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services.

Students are assisted in finding employment through several methods. Some jobs are found through faculty contacts in the professional community, while others originate from announcements sent to the School of Engineering,. In addition, students can access the resources provided by the University’s Office of Career Services.

Many students further their education in graduate school. Recent UP graduates have attended the following schools: Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Arizona State, Stanford, University of California at Berkeley, University of Washington and Purdue.
